Schematism of public administration from 1944 to 1962 in the area of jurisdiction of the State Archive in Dubrovnik

Abstract

The article presents a complete overview of local government structures in the Dubrovnik area after World War II until the end of 1962. The administrative system during this period was carried out by the people's committees. The synthesis contains a description of all levels of government starting from the highest i.e. the County People's Committee, to the lowest, the local people's committees. Through an overview of the history, organizational structure and competencies of the national committees, the main information on the creators of archival material, which is kept in the State Archives in Dubrovnik, is summarized in one place. In addition to its significance for future historical research, this schematism complements the archival lists and inventories of the archival fonds of the administration and can serve as an initial guide for users of the archival material of the people's committees and its better understanding.
